The Riviera Hotel Casino, located a spell from the action on the Las Vegas Strip, has once again increased their resort fee, jumping from $11 up to $15.
This is the second jump in under two years, as the Riviera’s resort fee was an even $7 a night back in 2011.
There appear to be a few additional amenities to off-set the fees, such as two tickets to their comedy club (drink minimum?), tennis centre access, and a free coffee per day (with a coupon down by the pool).
However, the official Riviera Website is less than forthcoming with their fee. Below are screen caps of the booking process:
1. Price, room type breakdown on selection screen. Notice the red font for 50% and black bold for room cost–then peer down towards the bottom and view the $15 resort fee charge in small grey text. There is nowhere to click to view inclusions/amenities to off-set the $15 charge.
2. Image upon viewing price breakdown does NOT include fee info:
3. Final booking area: once again, there is no clickable link on the screen to view amenities/inclusions regarding the fee.
It’s hard to justify charging the fee when the hotel itself does nothing to inform potential guests of what they are receiving in return for the $15 per night. And of course, there is the issue of charging an additional 50% ($15 on a $30 room).
